Jesús Faría, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Investments, said on Wednesday that removing exchange control is unviable for the time being, due to great pressure in the demand of US dollars.
He reasoned that such move would further disrupt the domestic economy. At the same time, he reported that the Venezuelan government will proceed with a plan “to weaken the parallel market.”
During an interview in “Vladimir a la 1,” a talk show aired on news TV channel Globovisión, Faría said that the Venezuelan government tries to implement new public policies and set new strategies to weaken the website DolarToday. To his mind, “it is a destabilizing element of the economy with powerful media and political financial support."
