The president of the Venezuelan National Constituent Assembly (ANC), Delcy Rodríguez, reported that the state governors elected in the gubernatorial election last October 15, members of opposition Acción Democrática (AD) party, were sworn in by the ANC on Monday evening.
“It is a significant act with a very clear message to the country about the need of democratic cohabitation, peaceful living together, respect for the people’s will,” Rodríguez said.
“Unfortunately, the state governor-elect for Zulia state did not appear,” added Rodríguez in reference to Juan Pablo Guanipa, of opposition Primero Justicia (PJ) party.
The ANC President warned that “the laws of the Republic should be enforced and observed and Guanipa’s absence will have its consequences.”
Sworn in governors are Laidy Gómez, Ramón Guevara, Alfredo Díaz and Antonio Barreto Sira, elected in the Venezuelan states of Táchira, Mérida, Nueva Esparta and Anzoátegui, respectively.
