US President Donald Trump and Chilean President Michelle Bachelet agreed on the importance of consolidating democratic principles in the Western Hemisphere.
US President Donald Trump expressed on Sunday again his concern about the stalemate in Venezuela during a chat with his Chilean counterpart Michelle Bachelet.
“President Trump expressed his concern about the situation in Venezuela and the leaders agreed on the importance of advancing democratic principles throughout the Western Hemisphere,” reported the White House, Efe cited.
According to the statement, the US mogul said that he spent the weekend in Mar-a-Lago, and addressed with Bachelet the bilateral relationship and the “close cooperation in trade and security matters.”
Again, the US president discussed the issue of human rights in Venezuela. Earlier, on Saturday, he did so during a telephone conversation with Brazilian President Michel Temer.
According to a White House statement, Trump and Temer held “a lengthy and fruitful chat” in which the US leader emphasized “the importance of fostering respect for democratic and humanitarian rights in Venezuela.”
