El Saco beach is a breathtaking cove of calm turquoise waters and fine sands, with a unique combination of mountains jutting out into the sea. It is composed of two beaches divided by a stair. The first seaside provides all the necessary tourism services. The second one is lined with mangroves on the shore, a characteristic which turns it into a great choice for camping, resting and breathing fresh sea air.
This destination, which covers about 230 kilometers, is located west Chimana Grande island, in the coast side of north-eastern Anzoátegui state. El Saco is one of Venezuela's most visited beaches and comprises the crystal-clear waters of Mochima National Park.
Transportation services to the island are provided at the quay of "Paseo Colón" (Colón promenade), in Puerto La Cruz. From there, small motorboats set off from 8:30 am until 2:00 pm and go back for visitors in the afternoon. The trip takes some 20 minutes.
