Executive Secretary of opposition coalition Unified Democratic Panel (MUD), Jesús Torrealba, asserted on Monday that an overhaul is required within the MUD in order to “make it more useful to the country,” considering that elections are unlikely in the near future.
“The Unified Democratic Panel needs to become a useful instrument for political and social struggle, always peaceful, but underlining the social and political aspects,” Torrealba asserted.
Moreover, in connection with the lootings occurred over the weekend in Bolívar, Apure, Trujillo, and Táchira states, Torrealba called for citizen integration; “to be united and face what we have ahead.”
“I believe a national unity pact needs to be signed, which should in turn lead to the creation of a situation room of the democratic society aimed at facing the crisis in the heat of the moment and provide a timely response,” proposed Torrealba.
