The Venezuelan Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Fedecámaras) agreed on Tuesday not to attend the meetings called by the Presidential Commission for the Constituent Assembly arguing that this body will be unable to solve the country core problems.
“It is not time for a constituent assembly,” said Fedecámaras President Francisco Martínez, accompanied by the members of the expanded board of directors.
“The country claims solutions to the problems that afflict the people and go deeper and deeper day by day (…) The call to a national constituent assembly in the set terms, rather than solving, will deepen the crisis, as it lacks the legitimacy afforded by the support of the sovereign people.”
