President of the National Assembly (AN) Henry Ramos Allup spoke out following a visit paid to Venezuela by leader of Spanish Citizens party Albert Rivera to serve as a mediator for “reconciliation” talks between the country’s government and opposition.
During a press conference, the Congress speaker recalled the efforts made since January 5 this year, when he took over the presidency of the Legislature along with an opposition qualified majority.
In this regard, the official said, back then, they were prepared not only to propose a recall vote, but also a constitutional amendment and resignation of President Nicolás Maduro from power. He said both initiatives are still in place.
Ramos Allup further added that they have not given up such proposals.
