Congress Speaker Henry Ramos Allup deemed on Wednesday that it was “very important” that Brazilian construction company Odebrecht reveals the names of Venezuelan nationals involved in briberies as the US Justice Department has pointed out.
“It is very important that Odebrecht reports who paid briberies or funding in Venezuela,” Ramos Allup said on its Twitter account.
According to documents disclosed on Wednesday in the US, Odebrecht paid about USD 788 million in briberies in 12 Latin American and African countries, including Brazil and Venezuela, Efe reported.
The briberies were linked to “over 100 projects in 12 countries, including Angola, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Mozambique, Panama, Peru and Venezuela,” according to the New York West District Court.
According to the documents, Odebrecht paid about USD 98 million in Venezuela between 2006 and 2015 to “government official and intermediaries” in order to “get and retain public works contracts.”
