The ministers of foreign affairs of the European Union (EU) are expected to lobby on Monday for a peaceful solution to the standoff in Venezuela, release of political prisoners and a clear election schedule as part of a number of conclusions to be approved during a meeting of the EU Council of Ministers in Brussels.
According to European sources, the ministers will renew their appeal “for the parties to abstain from violence and respect human rights” in Venezuela, Efe reported.
The EU has expressed concern about some 600,000 European residents in Venezuela, who “also suffer violence.”
Last July, the EU Council of Ministers approved a set on conclusions asking the parties involved for dialogue.
