The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, lobbied on Tuesday for Venezuela’s withdrawal from the regional organization in case of failing to hold “full general election as soon as possible” with the presence of international l observers, for them to be “free, fair and transparent.”
Such is the conclusion of his new report critic of Venezuela. The 75-page document supersedes his paper released earlier on May 31, in which he invoked the OAS Democratic Charter and commenced a process that could lead to Venezuela’s suspension, Efe quoted.
“Approving the suspension of the denaturalized Venezuelan government is the clearest effort and token that we can do right now for the country people, for democracy in the hemisphere, for its future and for justice,” Almagro concluded in his paper, forwarded to the OAS Permanent Council for subsequent distribution among the delegations.
