Opposition deputy at the Venezuelan National Assembly María Corina Machado spoke up on Friday in Washington apropos the refusal by representatives of the Organization of American States (OAS) to give her the floor in an open session.

"If anything has been clarified with today's (Friday) action is that they fear that Venezuela's reality might be disclosed. They fear that the magnitude of what is happening in Venezuela might be known."

The congresswoman told foreign reporters that she has been "chased and threatened."

In her opinion, the actions of the Venezuelan government "produce a confession by trying to prevent Venezuela's voice from being heard and listened to. In matters of freedom, indifference means complicity."

She explained that university students called upon people and "an enormous civilian movement joined them in the streets. It is an irreversible peaceful movement that cannot be stopped."
