Cuba's President Raúl Castro arrived in Caracas to attend the commemoration of the first anniversary of the death of President Hugo Chávez and visited his tomb in west Caracas.

The Cuban president arrived in the Cuartel de la Montańa, west Caracas, where Chávez's remains rest, and laid a white rose on Chávez's tomb.

Besides Castro, the presidents of Bolivia, Evo Morales, and Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, and representatives of other governments in the region are expected to attend a series of events to commemorate Chávez's first death anniversary, Efe reported.
