Maduro warns OAS against meddling in Venezuela's affairs

"The dire OAS of coups d'état is history now"

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said that a petition to discuss the Venezuelan crisis at the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) is just an action involving meddling. Further, he promised to fire back to any "attack" on national sovereignty.

"The dire OAS of coups d'état for 60 years is history now. A certain right-wing government (Panama's) over there intends to take the matter to the OAS Permanent Council. It is a plan on intervention of foreign forces in the country. I will reply strenuously to any attempt at meddling in Venezuela. I ask for people's support," the president exclaimed.

His remarks were made on Wednesday, during a speech delivered at Los Próceres promenade in advance to a civilian-military parade in memory of late President Hugo Chávez.
