CDH-UCAB counts 331 detainees; mostly victims of attacks

A report introduced on Tuesday by the Human Rights Center, Andrés Bello Catholic University (CDH-UCAB) highlights that "virtually all detainees have been psychologically and physically abused"

The Human Rights Center, Andrés Bello Catholic University (CDH-UCAB) brought forward on Tuesday a preliminary report on cases of detention and human rights abuses during the student demonstrations in Greater Caracas (covering five municipalities of the Venezuelan capital cities and the regions of Guatire-Guarenas and Miranda state highlands) on February 12-28, 2014.

Based on the paper, until Saturday, March 1, the CDH-UCAB has counted "331 reports of detentions, 265 of which are in full or conditional release, 11 are imprisoned and facing trial, 50 are imprisoned and scheduled to appear in court and five cases without information."

Psychological and physical abuses
The CDH-UCAB, chaired by sociologist Ligia Bolívar, highlights that "virtually all detainees have been psychologically and physically abused."
