OAS to hold special meeting on the Venezuelan crisis

The meeting will be held on Thursday; Member States' ambassadors are to attend the meeting

The Organization of American States (OAS) is to discuss on Thursday Panama's proposal to convene a meeting with the ambassadors of each Member State to find a solution to the crisis in Venezuela, where anti-Government demonstrations have resulted in 14 people dead in three weeks.

The proposal was made on Wednesday by Panamanian President Francisco Álvarez de Soto.

Panama has ruled out that the move "may be interpreted as interference in the domestic affairs of another country." On February 20, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro recalled his ambassador to Panama for consultation after Panama's alleged interference in the country's domestic affairs.
