The president of the United Federation of Oil Workers of Venezuela (Futpv), Wills Rangel, claimed a "permanent war" is taking place in Venezuela. He added "minority sectors" need to understand that "we, chavistas, are the majority."

Referring to the demonstration of workers from the oil sector on Tuesday, Rangel denied it aimed at confronting dissenters, who will hold a demonstration on Tuesday as well.

"We have been requested by the higher authorities to remain calm, but as a majority we will not let anyone get on top of us..."

Rangel informed that some 40,000 workers of the oil sector are to march from Plaza Venezuela, northeast Caracas, to the presidential palace of Miraflores, downtown Caracas.
