Venezuelan opposition leader Henrique Capriles Radonski announced he would convene in the next hours a peaceful demonstration across the country against paramilitary groups and violence. "That should be the course of demonstrations. Anarchical armed groups must be disarmed as soon as possible. We will demonstrate against violence, shortage, scarcity of supplies, and in favor of those hit by shortage of food and drugs. Let us leave violent people alone. We must focus on lawful and peaceful demonstrations."

Further on, the opposition leader urged Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro to set a deadline to disarm paramilitary groups in Venezuela.

"We reject violence from any sides. We fully support students. We will always be there with them. You will always see us next to the majority," Capriles remarked.

Capriles additionally referred to the violent events taking place in Venezuela in recent days and rejected the government's accusation that violent demonstrations were led by students. "It is quite obvious that student movements are against violence. Our way out is here under the Constitution. The student movement endorses the Constitution."
