Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro claimed on Thursday that the "top media outlets around the globe silenced" the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac), held in Havana, Cuba, this week.

On his Twitter account, Maduro said the media outlets decision to gag the presidential summit of the bloc "means we are doing things right."

As he made an appeal to build a Celac for the peoples, the Venezuelan president described the summit as "a great victory for the new era of the Great Homeland."
