NGO estimates 24,000 homicides in Venezuela in 2013

In its report 2013, non-governmental organization Observatorio Venezolano de la Violencia states the figures are similar to those of 2012, and adds that Venezuela is among the most violent countries worldwide along with Honduras, El Salvador, Ivory Coast, and Jamaica

Venezuela experiences a rise in the number of killings this year, according to an annual report produced by non-governmental organization Observatorio Venezolano de la Violencia (Venezuelan Violence Watch, OVV).

Based on the forecast, 24,700 people will have died by the end of the year because of violence. This accounts for 79 deaths per every 100,000 inhabitants. The figures are similar to those of 2012, when the organization estimated 24,200 deaths.

Venezuela is among the most violent countries worldwide along with Honduras, El Salvador, Ivory Coast, and Jamaica.
