A US citizen was detained in Caracas, accused of funding a group of young opponents, reported on Thursday Minister of the Interior and Justice Miguel Rodríguez Torres.

According to Rodríguez Torres, Timoty Hallet Tracy, 34,  received funds from an unspecified foreign NGO and "downloaded" them to "young people and rightwing parties to fuel violence," he told reporters without  accepting any queries.

The minister specified that even young supporters of the Venezuelan government were infiltrated by the detainee. "We think he belongs to an intelligence agency," he affirmed.

According to the government authority, this is part of the "April Connection," intended to "create chaos and disturb governance," for subsequent civil war involving foreign incursion, he reasoned.
