In the wake of opposition candidate's non-recognition of the results of the presidential election held in Venezuela on April 14, President-Elect Nicolás Maduro expressed that the first step is to communicate the National Electoral Council (CNE) about the relevant complaints and file a request.

Maduro pledged to abide by the decision of the electoral branch on such request, which seeks recount of votes.

The president-elect outlined that 54% of the comprehensive audit has been completed and suggested that the authorities should inform the people via mandatory nationwide simultaneous radio and TV broadcast about this.
