Maduro is the new Venezuelan president with 50,66% of votes

With a margin of less than 2 percent

Nicolás Maduro was elected as the new Venezuelan president with 7,505,338 votes (50.66% of the ballots cast) on April 14 versus 7,270,403 votes of opposition candidate Henrique Capriles, who gained 49.07% of ballots, said president of the National Electoral Council (CNE) Tibisay Lucena.

Lucena disclosed the election results after 99.12 percent of the ballots were counted. Turnout was estimated at 78.71 percent.
