Maduro will be sworn in as acting president on Friday

Speaker of the National Assembly Diosdado Cabello said the swearing-in will take place Friday at 7:00 pm, to comply with the provisions of the Constitution. He added Nicolás Maduro shall call a new election to choose the next head of state

Speaker of the National Assembly Diosdado Cabello announced Thursday night that Vice-President Nicolás Maduro will be sworn in as Acting President on Friday at 7:00 pm.

Cabello convened a special session of the National Assembly in the Hall of Honor of the Military Academy of Venezuela to hold the swearing-in ceremony.

Cabello added Maduro shall call a new election to choose the next head of state.

A simple reason: there is oil galore, would suffice to explain Guyana's actions. Another explanation lies in the little or none efforts made by the Venezuelan government to thwart the move by the Guyanese. This is certainly not a new problem, but a problem only recently highlighted because oil is involved. But what other resources does the disputed area hold? For most of us it is a section on the map with black and white stripes on it, a depiction of something distant, alien, a nothingness not worth paying much attention to in geography classes back in elementary school.
