Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez is reported to have been taken a few days ago to his presidential residence in La Orchila Island, 160 kilometers off Caracas for the purpose of dealing with the last strikes of the disease along with his relatives. Chávez may have been transferred from the Military Hospital in Caracas after physicians found another tumor in his left lung. Some 35% of the area has been affected, sources closed to the physicians told Spanish newspaper ABC.

ABC published that given said negative outcome and his superfluous stay in the hospital, where he was just under compassionate treatment; the president was discharged and taken out to La Orchila. In this way, his relatives can stay at all time and take actions in any event.

In 2011, the Venezuelan leader set up his presidential residence in La Orchila so he could receive special treatment. Some members of his medical team remained in the island for months administrating him some treatments and running tests, the Spanish journal informed. It was easier for the Venezuelan Head of State to travel secretly to La Orchila than to Cuba, destination for which he needed a special permission granted by Congress, ABC reported.
