Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez met in Havana with National Assembly Speaker Diosdado Cabello and Defense Minister Diego Molero, announced late on Friday Vice-President Nicolás Maduro.

"In a few hours, we will have news, because they (Diosdado Cabello and Diego Molero) submitted to him (Chávez) a number of topics for consideration," said Maduro, adding that the Venezuelan president continues to comply with his work agenda, thus performing his duties.

The vice-president said Molero sent "the greetings of our Bolivarian National Armed Forces" to Chávez, state-run news agency AVN reported.

Regarding Chávez's health, Maduro added the Venezuelan president "has started a new phase of treatment," following completion of the post-operative stage. "Fortunately, the post-operative stage has been completed and the president entered a new phase of treatment for his disease. He is recovering gradually and gaining strength," Maduro said.

Maduro stressed that Chávez "isvery proud and very happy for the Venezuelan people's support."
