Opposition alliance: Turnout higher in the afternoon
Opposition leaders Antonio Ledezma and Ramón Guillermo Aveledo stated that the Unified Democratic Panel (MUD) is pleased with voter turnout at the balloting centers

Antonio Ledezma, the coordinator of Regions, opposition Unified Democratic Panel (MUD), said that participation in Sunday election of governors increased during the afternoon.
MUD Executive Secretary Ramón Guillermo Aveledo agreed with Ledezma, and noted that the turnout is similar to that in the regional election held in 2008. "There is continuous flow of voters and we are pleased with the turnout."
In a joint press conference, the representatives of the MUD reminded that "much is at stake in Sunday election in Venezuela, including the right to free thinking."
For his part, Ledezma reminded that the electoral security and protection operation Plan República has to "guard voting centers and provide security to all poll workers and election witnesses."
