Student movement to participate in gubernatorial election

The leaders of the Venezuelan student movement explained the role they are to play in the upcoming gubernatorial election to be held on December 16. They also commented about their activities during the previous presidential electoral campaign

The President of the Federation of University Centers (FCU) of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), Juan Requesens, asserted that the student sector would be focused on fostering and defending votes, as well as on ensuring a transparent electoral process in the upcoming December 16 gubernatorial election.

For his part, Diego Scharikfer former student leader of the UCV commented about the involvement of the student sector in the past presidential election held on October 7. He highlighted that efforts were made to have electoral witnesses in every polling station across the country. The student movement hopes to keep strengthening its involvement in the upcoming election.

The very early morning after the presidential election (April 15), both candidates requested the National Electoral Council (CNE) to conduct a full audit of the process:  one, Henrique Capriles, because he asserts that the election results are different from the ones announced, and the other one, Nicolás Maduro, in order to clear any doubt regarding his victory, and to reinforce his political stance. Nevertheless, as it is already known, President Maduro changed his mind.
