Chávez reelected as president until 2019

President Hugo Chávez was reelected with 7,444,082 votes (54.42%), while opposition hopeful Henrique Capriles won 6,151,544 votes (44.97%), announced National Electoral Council (CNE) president Tibisay Lucena late on Sunday.

Lucena stressed that turnout in the presidential election hit 80.94%.

The results were disclosed after 90% of the ballots were counted.
