Venezuela's electoral body to punish electoral abuses

Tibisay Lucena, the President of the National Electoral Council (CNE), delivered a message on Thursday night in a mandatory radio and television broadcast on the occasion of the upcoming October 7 election and the end of the electoral campaign. She explained that "no abuses that might disturb the good atmosphere Venezuelan voters deserve before the election will be allowed."

"We have seen an electoral campaign in which the candidates have explained their platforms to the electorate. For us it is very important that every person had received enough information to lay down a criterion before the election," Lucena stated.

"It is time to isolate and reject the small groups that intend to impose their interests over the Republic, peace, and democracy. (...) As always, the Electoral Power will ensure timely information," she remarked.
