More than 10% of voters participated in a mock election taking place in Venezuela on Sunday, said Socorro Hernández, director of the National Election Council (CNE).

Hernández noted that by 8:00 pm, 99% of the transmitted data had been already processed.

The director also said that information on the results would not be released as it had not been provided for the simulation, reported state-owned news agency AVN.

Hernández remarked that the mock election was aimed at checking and setting out the details of the electoral machinery and the technological platform whereas the electorate focused on getting to know the system to be used in the presidential election slated for next October 7.

Moreover, the director stressed that the mock election allowed the Electoral Power to take into account some details that need to be furnished before the election.
