The Venezuelan Government has notified the United States about the arrest of a US citizen who is said to be a former military official. Victoria Nuland, a US official of the US Department of State said access to the detainee is still pending.
In a press release, Nulan stated that the confirmation was received on Monday, AFP reported. However, the official informed that said notification was not received through diplomatic means, that is to say the US Embassy to Caracas, Venezuela. Instead, Caracas directly informed Washington.
The US citizen was arrested last week while illegally entering Venezuela from Colombia.
