A private aircraft was interdicted by the Spanish police at the airport of The Canary Islands in Spain recently after Venezuelan authorities warned Interpol that over one ton of cocaine had been camouflaged with humanitarian aid, authorities confirmed to Efe.
The aircraft was intercepted on Sunday, but it was not inspected until Monday, Efe informed.
At the inspection, the authorities found bundles of cocaine covered with emblems of an international humanitarian organization.
The crew was taken into custody without revealing the nationality of any of its members. They were arrested for drug trafficking.
