Commemoration of Independence Day begins at the National Assembly
The keynote speaker will be Foreign Minister Nicolás Maduro
The solemn session to commemorate the 201st anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of Venezuela started Thursday at the National Assembly.
President Hugo Chávez arrived at the seat of the legislative power to take part in act where the military high command and representatives of the public branches of power will be present as well.
The keynote speaker in the celebration of the Independence Day will be Foreign Minister Nicolás Maduro.
José Vicente Rangel clearly said: "We are not conducting negotiations threatened with a gun in the head." He warned behind closed doors in the midst of the social upheaval occurred during the oil strike in 2002 and 2003. Dissenting Timoteo Zambrano answered back that no other option was available: "The thing is that otherwise, you do not negotiate."
