"With much sadness, I advise you that my mother María Teresa Castillo, a woman who gave it all for this country, has passed away," reported Miguel Henrique Otero.

Castillo, a renowned journalist, activist and engaged in promotion of culture in Venezuela, died at 103.

The widow of Miguel Otero Silva was born on October 15, 1908 in Cúa, central Miranda state.

Her work as life president of the Caracas cultural center was among her main legacies.
