Psuv leader views Uribe as Capriles' chief campaign strategist
Jorge Rodríguez, the campaign manager of ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (Psuv) and head of pro-government Carabobo Command feels that Henrique Capriles Radonski, the opposition presidential candidate, is sponsored by former Colombian President Álvaro Uribe
Jorge Rodríguez, the head of the presidential campaign staff of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, is certain that the chief campaign strategist of Venezuelan opposition candidate Henrique Capriles Radonski is former Colombian President, Álvaro Uribe Vélez.
"This man is the head of that (Capriles) campaign team. Why do they go to Bogotá? Who waits for them at the airport?," Rodríguez wondered, in reference to Capriles Radonski's visits to the Colombian capital city.
Rodríguez, who is the Libertador Municipality Mayor, recalled that Leopoldo López, the national coordinator of opposition Venezuela Command, met with the former Colombian president in December during the political campaign ahead of opposition primaries in order to share views about the issue of insecurity. "Uribe Vélez is the new opposition leader," Rodríguez concluded. He also stated that Capriles campaign is a setup.
