CNE director: "Mayor candidate is entitled to all his political rights"

The National Electoral Council (CNE) has not addressed the case of David Uzcátegui, opposition pre-candidate to the mayoralty of Baruta municipality, on his nomination as candidate to run for elected office, said Vicente Díaz, a CNE director.
Díaz said that only a Venezuela's court ruling could remove Uzcátegui's political rights.
"Uzcátegui is entitled to all his political rights," he reiterated.
The CNE director said that Uzcátegui can run for elected office and to make his case, Díaz said that the opposition hopeful is currently working as a town councilor of Baruta municipality.
"Nobody can be deprived of his/her political rights for an administrative decision," he added.
Díaz acknowledged that Uzcátegui has a "Code 8" status at the National Electoral Council (CNE) but reiterated that he is not subject to political disqualification.
