Dissenters: Celebration of February 4th disrespects the military
Venezuela s opposition umbrella group Unified Democratic Panel (MUD) feels that an upcoming government of national unity will observe the constitutional and professional status of the National Armed Force
In the opinion of the Venezuelan opposition umbrella group Unified Democratic Panel (MUD), the celebration of February 4th (when current President Hugo Chávez led an attempted coup aiming to overthrow the late president Carlos Andrés Pérez) disrespects the National Armed Force. The Venezuelan military, they think, has been forced to celebrate "an anti-constitutional fact that (the military) was able to overcome and defeat."
"From the military point of view, the events of February 4th betrayed their honor," sources of the opposition democratic alliance commented.
The MUD does not deem it fair forcing the National Armed Force to celebrate such day. "It is an affront to our military officers," they lamented.
