Opposition: 65,517 Venezuelans abroad are to vote in primaries
The Primaries Electoral Commission (CEP) of the Venezuelan opposition umbrella group Unified Democratic Panel (MUD) said that the participation of Venezuelans living abroad in primary elections is guaranteed
A total of 65,517 Venezuelans living abroad will be able to choose the presidential candidate of the Venezuelan opposition umbrella group Unified Democratic Panel (MUD), said Teresa Albanes, the president of the Primaries Electoral Commission (CEP). She added that these citizens "had been banned from participating in Venezuela's political life."
Albanes acknowledged the work of organizations like Venezolanos en el Exterior (Venezuelans Abroad, Venex) and the Primaries Electoral Commission to encourage Venezuelans to vote abroad. "Both groups are working in 53 countries to allow Venezuelans to exercise their constitutional right to vote."
She added that consulates will not be polling centers in the primary elections.
