Venezuelan Attorney General asked to fulfill IACHR ruling

Rocío San Miguel, the president of NGO Control Ciudadano (Citizen's Oversight for Security, Defense and Armed Forces) and her defense lawyer Carlos Nieto Palma, the head of NGO Una Ventana a La Libertad (A Window to Freedom)) on Tuesday appeared before the Public Prosecution Office to urgently request Attorney General Luisa Ortega Díaz to instruct officials to enforce the precautionary measures ordered by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) and adopt the necessary measures to protect the life and physical integrity of San Miguel and her daughter.
Nieto Palma told the Attorney General Office that his client has been seriously threatened in the past few years.
Last Thursday, the IACHR set a 15-day deadline to receive information from the Venezuelan government about the enforcemente of the measures adopted to prevent San Miguel from being the target of further acts of harassment.
