The document was drafted by experts in different areas
Venezuelan opposition umbrella group Unified Democratic Panel (MUD) is presenting the guidelines of a future national unity government. The platform was endorsed by the opposition presidential pre-candidates that will run in primaries on February 12, 2012.
The main opposition leaders are gathering at a hotel near Altamira Square, east Caracas, where they will present the platform that was drafted by experts in different areas. The platform will provide the basis for a future national unity government, if the opposition alliance wins the presidential elections to be held on October 7, 2012.
Ramón Guillermo Aveledo, the executive secretary and spokesman of MUD, said that the platform to be disclosed on Monday will serve as a basis for a government for all Venezuelans, and to make real progress in peace"
The platform will be formally signed and endorsed by opposition hopefuls María Corina Machado, Henrique Capriles Radonski, Pablo Pérez, Pablo Medina, Leopoldo López and Diego Arria.
The guidelines mirror the main goals of MUD: to achieve domestic reconciliation; to strengthen democratic institutions; to implement good governance practices; to bolster a productive society; to improve the quality of life of Venezuelans; to implement foreign policies that boost confidence, respect and wellbeing worldwide.
