Chinese businesspersons seek to invest in Venezuela

Chinese businesspersons will visit Venezuela on January 18-19 to evaluate investments

Venezuelan President, Nicolás Maduro, had a busy schedule of meetings in China, as part of his visit to seek financial support.

On Tuesday, Maduro met in Beijing with the presidents of the Bank of China and state-run oil company CNPC. On Wednesday, Maduro was expected to meet with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, as well as representatives of the People's Bank of China, the Bank of China, and the China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (SINOPEC).

Several Chinese businesspersons announced that they would travel to Caracas on January 18-19 to define the amount of the investment they would be willing to allocate to the "economic areas of strategic development" in Venezuela, established by the government of Nicolás Maduro.
