Andrés Eloy Méndez, the Venezuelan Superintendent of fair prices, announced that a biometric system will be implemented in both public and private supermarkets before December 31, 2014.

"Once the biometric system is operative, and having all the cash registers operating in all supermarkets, people will notice fewer lines, better supply, and better distribution of food, while we continue to boost local production," Méndez noted.
