The Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ) has authorized Attorney General Luisa Ortega Díaz to commence an investigation into Deputy for Monagas state María Mercedes Aranguren, for alleged corruption during her incumbency at Monagas state government.

The decision was made by the TSJ plenary court in an ad hoc meeting held on Wednesday morning.

TSJ sources disclosed that the resolution would be made official soon, as well as the judgment of approval to sue the opposition deputy and prepared by Judge Deyanira Nieves, the president of the Criminal Cassation Chamber.
