Within the framework of a Venezuela-France joint committee, the Venezuelan Ministry of Industries and French automobile company Renault have reached an agreement to set up a joint venture in Venezuela to produce vehicles.
In the words of Minister of Industries Ricardo Menéndez, "Venezuela enjoys from highly social, economic and political stability that has been shaped by Commander (Venezuelan President Hugo) Chávez's revolution. While some countries around the world have suffered the impact of the capitalist crisis, Venezuela has been able to both continue working on welfare and curb unemployment. This is how the growth curve keeps up."
The minister said the agreement provides for technology transfer, addition of parts made in Venezuela, and the selection of car models set for exports.
Round tables will be established on December 5 to discuss along with Renault's representatives schedules and technical details for the incorporation.
Likewise, Minister of Tourism Alejandro Fleming and Air France General Manager to Venezuela Bertrand Lamoureux have signed a letter of intent providing for the guidelines to establish an alliance that will promote Venezuela as a tourist destination.

He warned behind closed doors in the midst of the social upheaval occurred during the oil strike in 2002 and 2003. Dissenting Timoteo Zambrano answered back that no other option was available: "The thing is that otherwise, you do not negotiate."
