USD 1.7 billion investment in overhaul of Venezuelan powerhouses

From the situation room of the National Electric Corporation (Corpoelec), Deputy Commissioner for South Generation Francois Morillo presented a report on the process of hydroelectric generation in Lower Caroní River hydroelectric system.  He pointed out that a streamlining and refurbishment plan has been set up in hydroelectric power stations Antonio José de Sucre in Macagua, and Simón Bolívar in Guri (both located in southern Bolívar state).

Morillo reported that the Government has made an investment worth USD 1.7 billion for those projects in both hydroelectric power stations.  USD 300 million were allocated for the Simón Bolívar power plant and USD 400 million for the Antonio José de Sucre station.

Morillo also reported that Caruachi hydroelectric power station reached 100 percent operational status and that Macagua power station was 98 percent operational .
