Venezuela's President Hugo Chávez announced on Monday the creation of a special fund worth USD 23 million in order to tackle the emergency following the explosion occurred on Saturday, August 24th in Amuay refinery in Falcón state (northwest Venezuela.)
This fund will be used to finance works for the repair and replacement of dwellings, and also to support small retailers whose stores were damaged by fire. The fund will be managed by state-run oil holding Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa) and the Falcón state governor's office.
