The Public Prosecutor Ministry has launched an inquiry into the propane gas tank explosion occurred on Saturday morning in the Amuay refinery, in Punto Fijo, Falcón state (northwest Venezuela).

An expert team from the Lara state Public Prosecutor Ministry Criminalist Unit has been set up. The team will be in charge of conducting the investigation, in coordination with Rocío Gásperi, director of the Public Prosecutor Ministry Technical-Scientific Unit.

According to a press release, the appointed team that will visit the explosion includes two pathologists, a forensic anthropologist and a disaster management expert.

In addition, the 73th National Prosecutor Jimi Goite has been appointed to coordinate the inquiries in order to establish the causes of the event.
