Unemployment in Venezuela hits 1,152,522 people in April

Venezuela's jobless rate stood at 8.6% in April 2012, reported the National Statistics Institute (INE) in its Monthly Report on Labor Force.
In absolute terms, a total of 1,152,522 people were jobless in the fourth month of the year. According to the report, of those who were unemployed, 633,640 were men and 518,882 were women.
The unemployment rate slightly increased by 0.5% compared with the same period last year. The jobless rate was 8.1% in April 2011, according to INE.
The total of employed people in April was 12,278,610 people. Meanwhile, the economically inactive population (people who were not looking for a job, but were involved in other activities) amounted to 7,553,438 people.
