Social nuance of labor law is based on Marxism

According to the bill, capital does not create value, said Venezuelan economist Emeterio Gómez

One of the goals of the draft Organic Labor Law (LOT) is to initiate a transition to a socialist model, in which "the status of workers as a human beings takes precedence over their ability to produce wealth."

The government seeks to destroy the current model of "capitalist exploitation" at the service of employers and capital and implement a new model, where workers will be entitled to a "sufficient salary" that allows them to live decently and meet their basic needs.

Venezuelan economist Emeterio Gómez believes that the Executive Office is trying to use an "inconsistent" idea of Karl Marx, an advocate of communism, about the theory of value and labor. Marx proclaimed that capital does not create value but uses workers.

Gómez feels that the political project of President Hugo Chávez is the same that was implemented by former Cuban President Fidel Castro, or the one applied in the Soviet Union. The goal is to destroy private property, the economist cautioned.

The draft Law on the Social Process of Labor, which is being prepared by the Executive Office, could be a guideline for the new Labor Law. The bill notes that labor should be at the service of society and promote "a fair distribution of wealth," through a wage scale that promotes equality.

Mafias and politics in the surroundings

Lieutenant colonel Miguel Angel Urrieta was unlucky to have his phone number on Tatiana Orozco's cell phone; who was labeled as "The Queen of the Rebar." That fact and some text messages exchanged with Orozco were enough for public prosecutors to consider him a party to the shady deals with rebar which spread over a scandal from the steel plants of Sidor.
