Retail sales price make businessmen nervous

In the expectation that the government is about to notify the new prices of 19 items, whose prices were frozen last November by the Executive Office within the framework of the Law on Costs and Fair Prices, Jorge Botti, the president of the Federation of Trade and Industry Chamber (Fedecámaras), exclaimed that the business sector is nervous about the setting of retail sales prices and their likely impact on retailers.

Botti noted that it is not known whether the retail price, which would be set in the producing plant or by the importer, would admit the role of intermediaries, who are frequently present in the production chain.

The delay to announce the price adjustments is "a tacit admission that such a decree to control prices is ineffective," the Fedecámaras president told Unión Radio.
